Metabolism is a set of chemical processes in your body that turn food into energy. These processes keep your body alive and functioning, powering everything from breathing and circulation to movement and thinking. Your metabolism also determines how efficiently your body uses calories for daily activities. There are some genetic factors that give your metabolism a starting point but it can be adjusted. Lifestyle choices such as diet, exercise, sleep, and stress management can either speed up or slow down your metabolism. Consistently hitting your macronutrients which is a balanced amounts of protein, carbohydrates, and fats, gives your body the right fuel to maintain energy, build muscle, and regulate hormones. All of which support a healthy metabolism. Simply put, metabolism is your body’s way of managing energy to sustain life and performance.

Questions for Response:

How would you describe your metabolism currently?

I feel like it's pretty efficient. However, I don't always feel like I have the energy I think I should.

Out of the various lifestyle choices that affect metabolism, which one(s) would you like to improve?

Sleep quality. No matter how much I sleep I tend to feel the same way as far as energy levels.

Are you happy with your current diet?

Overall yes. I would like to know a little more about what foods I should and should not be having.

“For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.” - 1 Timothy 4:4-5
